Books about Vladimir Lenin

The infinite quantity of verses, songs and short stories were written about Vladimir Lenin in the days of the Soviet power. Children learnt by heart the verses about Lenin, sang the songs about Lenin, celebrated his birthday. The day April, 22nd was for us a wonderful light red-letter day.

Lenin and the stove-maker by Alexander Tvardovsky

Children's books which were read to us in the kindergartens told about the various facts of Lenin's life. They were written for the purpose to picture Lenin as a good, kind, understanding person. In the school we read books written by Lenin's nearest relatives, party fellows and simply Soviet writers. Such books were written by Nadezhda Krupskaya, Zoya Voskresenskaya, Alexander Tvardovsky, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Alexander Kononov and many other writers.

Stories about Ulyanov family by Zoya Voskresenskaya

After dissolution of the Soviet Union people and children's libraries hastened to get rid of that sort of literature. Millions books were annihilated. Now books about Lenin can be found only in the private libraries.
